Location: Detroit onsite

As a Robot Bringup Engineer at Carbon Robotics you will work from the Detroit office/manufacturing facilities. You will collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical, electrical and software engineers to implement and ensure the success of our manufacturing operations. In particular you will be responsible for installing and configuring the software on newly assembled robots. In addition you will handle diagnosing any technical or quality issues that may come up along the way, escalating when needed. You will also assist with general logistical tasks required for the smooth operations of the assembly line. You’ll do whatever it takes - which might include travel - to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with Engineering teams to support manufacturing operations.
  • Install and configure proprietary software on AI robots.
  • Troubleshoot issues during the bringup of robots, which may amongst other things involve software, electrical or mechanical issues.
  • Assess and evaluate quality issues on newly assembled robots to ensure build quality.
  • Validate the functionality of robots by completing a suite of validation tests
  • Handle some logistical issues to ensure the smooth running of manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain and expand the documentation around robot bringup.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

  • Debugging experience with software and electrical issues.
  • Comfortable using a command line interface and running scripts as needed
  • Ability to use electrical investigation tools. (e.g. Multimeter, Oscilloscope, etc.)
  • Daily schedule from 6am-2:30 pm
  • Understanding of computer and networking fundamentals.
  • Efficient working in a Linux based environment
  • Familiarity with scripting programming languages (bash, python, etc.) is a plus
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work in multidisciplinary teams
  • BS+ in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. (Relevant equivalent experience may also be considered)
