The Shipping & Inventory Specialist, EU is responsible for managing all aspects of international trade activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and facilitating the smooth movement of goods across borders. This role supports both import and export operations, with a focus on documentation, compliance, logistics, and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation and Compliance

  • Prepare and review all required export and import documents, including invoices, bills of lading, packing slips, certificates of origin, and customs declarations
  • Ensure export transactions comply with Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Determine import/export classification (HTS/ECCN) of products and technology
  • Stay updated on international trade regulations and ensure all shipments adhere to customs laws and compliance requirements
  • Participate in internal audits and support governmental inquiries regarding trade

Logistics and Shipment Management

  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to arrange transportation and logistics
  • Monitor shipment status, address potential delays, and occasionally track shipments for customer updates
  • Manage inventory levels of imported and exported goods in coordination with warehouse staff

Communication and Coordination

  • Act as the central point of contact for import operations within Europe
  • Communicate with overseas suppliers, customers, customs brokers, and internal departments
  • Interface with external stakeholders to ensure shipment compliance with government regulations

Analysis and Reporting

  • Monitor and analyze shipping costs to identify potential cost savings opportunities
  • Generate reports on import/export activities, including shipment volumes, costs, and compliance issues
  • Assist in developing and implementing tools or processes for continuous improvement of trade compliance activities

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in import/export operations
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures
  • Proficiency in export and import documentation practices
  • Deep understanding of Harmonized System Codes
  • Advanced knowledge of traffic/customs procedures and policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with logistics software and systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bilingual in English (required) and another language (preferred)
  • Customs Broker's License, CES/CCS preferred
  • Experience dealing with EMEA. APAC and LATAM a plus
