The Role
The Business Operations Manager reports directly to the CEO and owns the company’s operational and financial backbone. This role partners closely with the CRO, bookkeeper, and contract CFO, with responsibility for strategic budget ownership, vendor and asset management, spend visibility and reporting, and bridging day-to-day operational needs across Finance, Legal, and the broader business.
This is a high-judgment, hands-on role for someone who can think holistically about the business, design scalable systems, and partner cross-functionally while maintaining strong attention to detail. This role will help define and manage office and administrative operations standards, and will eventually oversee the Operations Coordinator once the position is filled.
What You’ll Do
- Strategically own the company-wide budget in partnership with the bookkeeper and contract CFO, including planning, tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Act as a day-to-day operational finance partner, ensuring leadership has clear visibility into spend and financial health
- Own vendor management end-to-end, including sourcing, contracts, renewals, negotiations, and performance
- Partner with Legal on contracts, compliance support, and operational legal workflows
- Own company asset management (hardware, equipment, inventory tracking, lifecycle management)
- Own company spend and reporting in Brex, ensuring accurate classification, documentation, and visibility
- Serve as the operational bridge between Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) in partnership with the bookkeeper
- Support AR by coordinating outreach to customers regarding payment needs, working closely with Finance
- Build and maintain reporting, documentation, and SOPs related to budget, vendors, spend, and assets
- Oversee high-level office operations and provide occasional hands-on support for tasks like supplies, snacks, and logistics until the Operations Coordinator is in place
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in business operations, finance operations, or similar roles
- Proven experience owning budgets, vendors, and operational finance processes
- Comfort partnering with Legal and navigating contracts and compliance
- Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information
- High ownership mindset with the ability to build systems from scratch
- Clear, concise communicator who works well across teams and with external partners
- Analytical mindset: comfortable interpreting data to inform action
- A “learn and be curious” mentality and excitement about early-stage environments
- Thrives when given ownership and autonomy
The Perks
- Competitive salary and generous equity
- Full health, dental, and vision with 100% premium coverage for you and your dependents
- Unlimited PTO and the expectation to actively use it with a minimum of three (3) weeks
- Fifteen (15) paid holidays per year
- 401K
- Paid parental leave
- Local or remote, we like to keep it fun-virtual hangouts, office vibes, and team outings all included. Hybrid gives you the perfect mix of focus and connection.
Salary Range: $110,000–$140,000. Final salary will be determined based on location, experience, and demonstrated ability to lead company-wide operational and financial initiatives.
