Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Test Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Propulsion Engineer with extensive experience in spacecraft propulsion systems, particularly in analysis and testing within high-vacuum environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in testing systems using storable propellants. Proficiency in propulsion modeling software, including ROCETS, TDK, and other industry-standard tools, is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize spacecraft propulsion systems with a focus on storable propellants.
- Conduct and oversee testing of propulsion systems in high-vacuum environments, ensuring system performance, reliability, and safety.
- Utilize propulsion modeling software (e.g., ROCETS or TDK) to simulate and validate system performance.
- Work with storable propellants in test and operational environments.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and data analysis for propulsion system development, qualification and acceptance.
- Collaborate with test facility teams to ensure safe and efficient handling of hazardous propellants.
- Support system-level trade studies, mission planning, and anomaly resolution related to propulsion performance.
- Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and findings to stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners.
- Mentor junior test engineers and technicians.
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s, or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in spacecraft propulsion system design, analysis, and testing, specifically with storable propellants.
- Expertise in propulsion modeling and simulation tools (e.g., ROCETS, TDK, or other).
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion processes in spacecraft propulsion.
- Hands-on experience with high-vacuum test facilities and propellant handling procedures for hazardous chemicals.
- Knowledge of thruster performance evaluation, reaction control systems (RCS), and main engine applications.
- Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
Preferred skills & Experience
- Experience with electric propulsion, hybrid propulsion systems, or green monopropellants.
- Knowledge of mission design, orbital mechanics, and spacecraft system integration.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices for hazardous propellant handling and spacecraft propulsion.
