At Roboto, we’re building the software infrastructure for the golden age of robotics — a platform that can ingest, search, and analyze the vast amounts of data produced by robots. From cameras and lidars to batteries and motors, Roboto makes multimodal data easy to manage and quick to analyze with AI.

Our team brings experience from Amazon Robotics, AWS, Google, Cruise, and the Allen Institute for AI, and we’re fortunate to be backed by leading investors. Together, we’re working to make a generational impact on how robots are built, helping companies to deploy safer, smarter, and more capable systems.

🚀 About the role

As an Applied Scientist, you’ll design and implement the algorithms that power Roboto’s data analytics platform. Robotics data is unlike anything else: high-frequency, multimodal, and massive in scale. Self-driving cars, drones, and humanoid robots all generate terabytes of sensor data — and when something fails, engineers need better tools to explore it and understand what went wrong.

Your work will tackle this challenge head-on: building systems for anomaly detection, event extraction, and root-cause analysis; creating advanced search methods for multimodal datasets; and developing models that can surface meaningful insights automatically. You’ll take algorithms from research to production, shaping the core intelligence that makes robotics teams faster and more effective.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll work at the intersection of robotics, AI, and large-scale data systems.

🔍 We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong foundations: BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related technical field.

  • Ships production AI : 2+ years of experience developing and deploying AI models in production.

  • Has ML/vision expertise: Strong background in machine learning and/or computer vision, with a proven track record.

  • Is fluent in Python & ML frameworks: Skilled with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or similar.

  • Understands data at scale: Experience with vector databases, embeddings, similarity search, anomaly detection and cloud platforms.

  • Knows research-to-production: Comfortable taking algorithms from research paper to production.

✨ Bonus points:

  • Generative & multimodal AI: Experience with large language models (LLMs), multimodal AI systems, or agentic frameworks (e.g. MCP).

  • Robotics data fluency: Familiarity with robotics data formats (ROS, PX4) and multimodal sensor fusion.

  • AI-first workflows: Experience building AI-driven user experiences, where models directly enhance engineering workflows.

🤖 Why join

Robotics is on the cusp of explosive growth. Marc Andreessen (a16z) calls it the biggest industry in the history of the planet and Jensen Huang (NVIDIA) projects humanoid robots will drive a $50 trillion market alone.

What’s still missing are the tools to make that growth possible. Robotics teams lack the data infrastructure and AI systems needed to build, scale, and operate their machines.

At Roboto, we believe we’re the right team, at the right time, to create the category-defining platform for the robotics era. Join us, and help shape the future of robotics!
