🚀 About the role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll design and build the distributed systems that make Roboto run at scale. Robotics teams generate massive, high-frequency data — and our backend is the engine that ingests and analyzes it all.

You’ll architect scalable storage and compute pipelines, optimize for performance and reliability, and collaborate with frontend, applied science, and forward deployed engineers to deliver features that unlock robotics workflows.

This is a high-impact role with broad technical ownership, from database design to analytics infrastructure, where your work will directly shape the daily experience of robotics engineers around the world.

🔍 We're looking for someone who:

• Has deep backend expertise: 5+ years of experience building and maintaining distributed systems with high-traffic.

• Cares about performance: Strong in languages like Python, Rust or Go, writing clean, maintainable code with a focus on performance and reliability.

• Understands data at scale: Skilled with high-volume data pipelines, telemetry, and large-scale storage systems.

• Is cloud native: Proficient with AWS, GCP, or Azure, and familiar with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Designs for scale: Experienced with monitoring, alerting, and ensuring systems run smoothly under load.

• Communicates clearly: Able to break down complex ideas and collaborate effectively with teammates and customers.

✨ Bonus points:

• AI-first systems: Experience designing backends that power ML/AI pipelines and interactive data analytics.

• Data systems: Experience with Parquet, Arrow, Spark InfluxDB, vector databases or similar.

• Robotics data: Exposure to ROS, PX4, or multimodal sensor data.

• Infrastructure as code: Skilled with CDK, Terraform or Pulumi.

The listed salary range is wide to cover candidates with broad experience (5–15+ years). Your actual base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account relevant skills, education, and experience. Eligible employees will also receive equity grants in the form of stock options, giving you the opportunity to share in the company's long-term success.
