Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the backend systems that power our applications, including third party integrations such as property management systems and smart devices. You will work closely with other engineers, designers, and product managers to build new features, resolve bugs, and improve performance.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new features and enhancements.

• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.

• Debug and troubleshoot issues with existing systems.

• Optimize system performance and scalability.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and proactively recommend new technologies and best practices.

Role Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer.

• Strong proficiency in at least one of the following backend programming languages; with the ability to learn on the job as required: C#, Java, Python, and / or PHP

• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL

• Knowledge of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.

• Understanding of message queues, background jobs, and task scheduling.

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
